The lookout… erosion in progress

We drove up to the lookout… Zakynthos Island is stunningly beautiful and one of my favourite places in Greece. The road was crumbling on the cliff side and felt vulnerable, if not a little perilous. At the top a man was selling honey and walnuts, and a lady had a table overflowing with olives, oil and cheese. We walked to the edge… so high!

We can see the cliff eroding… a kind of salty broth of stone and sea. From here, the sea is a mass. It’s only when you get closer, it gives you a little wave.

We load up on our wares and drive back to the orchard and our accommodation, knowing we’ll feast on Greek Salad and honey walnuts with sweet oranges for the rest of our trip.

Zakynthos, Greece.
More than just a place.
