Todays journey took us over the hill to Arrowtown and the beautiful art studio of artist, Maryanne Marlow. We were approached by Queenstown Arts Society to collaborate on a joint exhibition for November and December in Queenstown.
'Confluence' - a meeting of minds, merging together to create one body of work. Our styles are similar but so different. Maryanne paints in oils, where as I use acrylic and material. I took over a number of different pieces and when they merged in the studio with her works, we collectively decided on a small selection to exhibit. What a joy to create an exhibition in this way, and what a pleasure to work with Maryanne and Tash and Marine from Queenstown Arts.
Breaker Bay (acrylic and material on canvas)
Rivers of Youth (1&2) - Diptych.
Acrylic and Material on Canvas
With each of us adding 4 paintings to the mix. we've come up with a selection we all agree works well together. A real learning curve and experience, and a bravery to chop and change. I love that.
Works I've included:
Rivers of Youth (1&2), Diptych
I'm Frond of You
Breaker Bay
A mixing of styles and sizes complement each one to create a sense of belonging to the wall.
As a selection of artworks that 'speak to each other', it's just so rewarding to get to this point. There's a lot of cross over art that speaks in this way... intuitive and visual, and I love Maryanne's work.
A behind the scenes view from her studio. Exhibition details coming soon.
