Hero the moment

Here we are in the in between… currently sitting at the airport waiting to board our flight. Well not the flight we had booked, thanks Jetstar… but another one to Auckland.  We’re off to the Gold Coast for a week of family and fun, then back for days, then off again… to Europe via Shanghai.

My favourite photo of Dad (Poppa)
Such a huge inspiration for art
And life… a true Hero in the moment
And not forgotten

Christmas in Morocco
Yes please

It’s fair to say we’ve changed.  Travel has changed us, and it’s changed our art. My heads buzzing with ideas as usual, but there’s no rush. I love the feeling it creates, of just pausing for a bit to take in the vibe. It’ll pay off as it always does. And when the times right we’ll quietly get going again.
Till then… Europe is calling.

Deep down South

A full days journey from Lake Manapouri to Bluff, taking in the gorgeous, rugged beaches of the Deep South, inspires many a painting. Such a contrast in all elements here.

Wild offerings from Gemstone Beach

There’s no one image to copy. But rather a collection of visual prints. Knowing we can come back to this point whenever we want, helps me able to leave again for a while to hit the next adventure.
Art is life in peace.
In my book.

A series of paintings emerge from the canvas like a rusty roof… scraped and moulded from a memory.

An evolution in the making.

A little bit Magnificent

Ahhh Milford Sound… the beauty that is.

I sold this off the wall in the BnB… they said it reminded them of St Kilda Beach in Dunedin. They took it back to Dunedin in the boot of their car. I didn’t know how to price it at the time, but we agreed on a price and shook hands on a couple of bills. How we roll sometimes lol.

Driving to Milford Sound is always an adventure.
Dad had been here before but Mum never had.
Time to change that…

Wanted to take Mum and Dad here last time they came to visit. Nice to be able to take Mum here today.
We had rain, we had snow. Bit of everything I know.
And ‘a little bit magnificent’

Photos speak for themselves.

A couple of cheeky Keas.

Lake Manapouri NZ… totally unspoilt.
